Actress Lisa Vidal to Present at the 2008 Urban Wheel Awards
Actress Lisa Vidal, who recently wrapped production on the thriller Dark Mirror, has joined a star-studded lineup of presenters for the 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards, which will take place on January 15, 2008, at the majestic Fox Theatre in Detroit. The Urban Wheels Awards (UWA), also known as the Academy Awards of the automotive industry, will pay tribute to those pioneering automotive industry leaders who transcend the mainstream and embrace diversity to create and improve products and services that appeal to a larger customer base.
The only forum to recognize the top African American, Asian, and Latino executives in the automotive and ancillary industries, the UWA will also include A-list entertainment, industry leaders and Hollywood celebrities presenting the UWA awards to the winners in the 12 categories. With a theme this year of "Fashion, Stars & Cars," the 2008 UWA will be an evening to remember.
"We've followed the career of Lisa Vidal and are honored that she will be joining us this year as a presenter for the 2008 Urban Wheel Awards," says UWA creator Randi Payton, CEO/Founder of On Wheels Inc. "I am happy to be a part of such an important event, one which celebrates diversity," adds Ms. Vidal.
Ms. Vidal, who is of Puerto Rican ancestry, had dreams of being an actress as a child in New York City. As a teen she attended and graduated from the famed High School of The Performing Arts. She also honed her craft at the renowned La Familia Theater Company. At age 14, she landed a role in the theater series "Oye Willie" and went on to made her feature debut with a small role in Delivery Boys. It wasn't long before she began appearing on a variety of television shows, including "The Cosby Show," HBO's "The Blue Diner," "New York Undercover," "Third Watch," "ER," "Boston Legal," and "Smith." On the big screen, she has appeared in Naughty or Nice, Chasing Papi, I Like It Like That, The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit, and Night and The City, alongside Robert De Niro and Jessica Lange. Ms. Vidal has also been nominated several times for an ALMA Award, which celebrate artistic excellence through the outstanding achievements of Latinos in motion pictures, television, and music.
The 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards will be presented during Press Week in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The NAIAS in 2007 had over 90 internationally-sanctioned exhibitors and added more than $500 million to the metro Detroit region last year alone.
The 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards will be coming to Detroit at the Fox Theatre on January 15, 2008 starting at 5PM. Come out and see the "Fashion, Stars, and Cars" as the UWA "strut" its stuff.
