Ford Supports Breast Cancer Awareness with its "Warriors in Pink" Program

Fordwarriorinpinkbanner As we've seen recently illustrated by our dear community member A. Freeman, Ford's "Warrior in Pink" program offers lady car fans a way to indulge their automotive need for speed while also showing their support of breast cancer awareness. Besides a perfectly pink accessorized Mustang, Ford supports breasts cancer awareness in a broad variety of ways.

Ford's "Warrior in Pink" awareness program includes support from celebrity spokespeople Melissa Etheridge and Kelly Clarkson and also provides a variety of programs and products from cars to clothing. Here's a tour of Ford's "Warriors in Pink" programs found at

Ford_wip_pinkponybadgeFord's Commitment to the Komen Race for the Cure
At the head of the fight against breast cancer is Susan G. Komen for the Cure with their resounding promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find cures. Nancy Brinker founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in 1982 in memory of her sister who died of breast cancer at age 36. 1983 marked the beginning of the Komen Race for the Cure(R), which has now grown from one Race in 1983 to more than 115 Races and more than 1.5 million participants planned for 2007. The Komen Race for the Cure Series is now the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer, bringing together more than a million believers each year to battle breast cancer by walking or running the 5k marathon.

Ford is proud to be celebrating its 13th year as a National Series Sponsor of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Since 1995, Ford has dedicated more than $90 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. More than 50,000 Ford employees have run or walked in Races across the country to support the cause, and thousands of Ford dealers across the nation have gotten involved by participating in the Komen Race for the Cure at their local Race sites. Those who attend an event can visit the Ford tent for a free Warrior bandana and tattoo while supplies last.

Ford_wip_melissa_etheridge Have a Listen: Melissa Etheridge's "I Run for Life"
Oscar and Grammy Award winner, wife, and mother, Melissa Etheridge, knows just how breast cancer can threaten our most precious human relationships. She also knows how it endangers the most precious human relationship of all--the one we have with ourselves. Diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2004, today she is cancer-free.

Melissa's song, "I Run for Life," is more than anthem in the fight against breast cancer, it also shows her support for breast cancer charities and her commitment to the cause. Record royalties from "I Run for Life" benefit two charities dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. The single is available exclusively through the iTunes Music Store for 99 cents; 20% of the download price benefits the Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R) and 80% benefits the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation.

Melissa also offers cell phone ringtones and wallpapers so that subscribers of T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and Cingular. can carry their awareness on their mobile phones. Hear Melissa's anthem whenever you receive a call by downloading the "I Run for Life" ringtone for $1.99, or add a Melissa wallpaper to your cell phone display for $1.99. Proceeds from these purchases benefits breast cancer charities.

Ford_wip_kelly_clarkson Make a Fashion Statement with Kelly Clarkson
Kelly Clarkson rocks the cause by wearing custom-modified "Warriors in Pink" apparel. A variety of items ranging from caps to tee-shirts and hoodies can be purchased at the merchandise store on the site, and then visitors can click on Kelly's link to download pdfs that will allow them to modify their own clothing to what she is wearing.
