Easter Treats for the Family!
Ask Patty found this great recipe from Great Falls Tribune for all you ladies out there. Tell me that these little bunnies are not ADORABLE!
Editor's note: When Tribune Staff Writer Stacy Byrne's car-fanatic son Valon turned 3 last week, she made a special treat for his day care group. Her Easter bunny cars were a big hit with the little ones there, and with the big ones in the newsroom.
This Twinkie car recipe is nice and easy ... and quick and messy. The best part is there are little trimmings you can munch while you build the cars. The recipe came from "Montana Mom," who commented on a Deadlines & Bedtimes blog entry about my son's racecar birthday party. While she uses gummy bears as the drivers in her recipe, I opted for more seasonally appropriate Easter bunny Peeps.
EASTER BUNNY CARS
• 1 package of Twinkies
• 1 bag of miniature Oreo cookies
• 1 bag of small pretzels (can use round or coated pretzels as well)
• Easter Bunny Peeps
• White frosting
First trim the pretzels, leaving the rounded bottom to serve as a steering wheel as well as a middle post to stick into the Twinkie.
Also trim the rounded bottoms off the Peeps. Then coat the Oreos and Peeps with frosting and stick them onto the Twinkie. Voila! You have the cutest Easter treat since sliced bread (which, contrary to popular belief was never an Easter treat to begin with)!
