GM Celebrates its 100th Anniversary by Giving Away a Discount!

Perhaps you've seen the television ads already? Last week, General Motors announced its GM 100th Anniversary Sales Event, in which the company is offering employee pricing on nearly all its 2008-model-year and select 2009-model-year vehicles in stock until September 2, 2008.

It’s a pretty big deal and it’s not going to last long so if you’ve been considering buying a General Motors vehicle, you’d better act soon, as the special discount ends the day after Labor Day. GM’s incentive offers new-car shoppers a unique opportunity to save money across its model range as the company celebrates its centennial year and looks toward the future. While there is a small chance the promotion could be extended, don't count on it -- why not take the weekend to go shopping for a new General Motors vehicle?

We’re talking about significant discounts and rebates on virtually its entire lineup of 2008-model-year Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, GMC, Saturn, Cadillac, Saab, and Hummer  vehicles between now and September 2, 2008.

"We have 100 years of innovation behind us, but what's ahead is even more exciting," said Mark LaNeve, vice president, GM North America Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing. "We brought the world electric starters, the fully automatic transmission, OnStar and fuel cell vehicles. It's been a long history of technological leadership, and the result of that innovative spirit is on GM dealer's lots today. To celebrate, we're offering the employee discount to everyone on our 2008 and some of our 2009 models. This is a phenomenal offer for consumers."

Here are the details, according to the press release:
    * Customers can obtain employee (GMS) pricing at participating dealers on virtually all remaining 2008-model-year GM vehicles in stock, as well as some 2009-model-year vehicles including the Chevrolet Cobalt and HHR, Pontiac Vibe and G5, and Cadillac CTS.
    * Special stickers will be on display in vehicle windows at participating dealerships to show the bottom-line price customers will pay, taking into account the discounted price as well as all applicable incentives and rebate offers.

Please keep in mind that the program DOES have some restrictions, and specifically excludes 2008-model-year medium-duty trucks and any other 2009-model-year vehicles not listed above. Sometimes the manufacturers may extend these special offers, but I wouldn't count on it for this deal.
