Help! My 95 Toyota Corrola just required a new left drive axle for $220 last month but the engine still runs rough. The mechanic (who I trust) put industrial strength fuel cleaner (90%) in to smooth out the engine and it ran like a top for about a month or so.
After a new tank of gas from Krogers, last Thursday at midnight while driving home in dry conditions, it started missing, laboring up a steep hill and almost didn't make it. I put in STP fuel cleaner to no effect.
It seems like the car runs on 4 cylinders, then from a stop, on 2 cylinders, and ocassionally clears itself to run at speed on 4, but then fouls itself. What do I do?
My mechanic is fighting cancer and won't be back in his independent garage for months, if ever. He said check the distributor (don't have one) or rotor button.
I am considering buying a hybrid or a motorcycle if this doesn't get fixed fast! At $3.30/gal, I'm getting less than 15 mpg and wasting half my fuel! HELP!
