BMW-web.tv Launched Today - Clean Energy Video Featured

BMW launched BMW-web.tv today, a video magazine site aimed at the Web 2.0 community. Opera singer Anna Netrebko is featured in a video about clean energy while attending the Clean Energy Gala. Anna supports the BMW Clean Energy Program and she talks about the need to protect the planet. Click arrow to start video below.

BMW has launched the first premium limousine with a bivalent (hydrogen and conventional) engine in a bid to reduce harmful emissions and fight climate change. Anna Netrebko was exclusively driven in the hydrogen-fuelled limousine on her German Tour 2007. Says frequently traveling Anna: "Protecting the environment and fighting climate change are significant challenges of our time. We cannot leave these tasks to politicians and scientists alone but must all play our part. That's why I'm raising my voice, too."

Since her triumphant 1995 San Francisco Opera debut, Anna Netrebko has starred with opera companies and symphony orchestras around the world. She brings her beautiful soprano voice, sensitive musicianship, acute dramatic portrayals and compelling stage presence to the Metropolitan Opera (War and Peace), Salzburg Festival (Don Giovanni), Royal Opera, Covent Garden (La clemenza di Tito), The Washington Opera (Rigoletto, Le nozze di Figaro, Idomeneo), and Bayerische Staatsoper (La traviata).

Miss Netrebko began her career with the Kirov Opera under the guidance of Valery Gergiev, and continues to appear with that company in performances both in St. Petersburg and on tour around the world. In addition to roles in the Russian repertoire, her performances with the Kirov have included Teresa in Berlioz' Benvenuto Cellini,La Sonnambula, and Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor. She recently became an exclusive recording artist with Deutsche Grammophon, and she can also be heard on several complete recordings under Maestro Gergiev on the Philips Label.
